The Colorado Buffaloes have a classic helmet scheme that most college football fans would recognize: A bright golden helmet with a silhouette of the most iconic mascot in all of college football containing a “CU” cutout in the middle. This helmet has raced behind Ralphie in the Big 8, the Big 12 and the Pac-12. It has carried the Buffs to conference titles, bowl game victories and the 1990 national title.

Colorado has used many different types of helmets throughout its history, from subtle changes to the color or side logo, to complete redesigns of the classic gold. Let’s take a stroll through the history of the Colorado Buffaloes’ helmets.
