Ahead of what is expected to be the biggest regular season game of the 2024 college football regular season, the ESPN College GameDay crew made their picks for the most anticipated matchups of Week 5. When it came to the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide vs. the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs, the crew was unanimous.
In Tuscaloosa, with Nick Saban on the panel and his wife, Ms. Terry, as the guest picker, every panel member selected Alabama to win tonight’s contest.
Though Georgia is the higher-ranked team of the two, the Crimson Tide has an explosive offense and one of the strongest defenses the program has had in recent seasons. Add in the fact that this game is in Tuscaloosa and it really does seem as if the odds are against the Bulldogs.
Only time will tell what happens, but this really has the makings of a de facto regular season College Football Playoff game. However, with the expansion of the CFP field, there’s still a high likelihood both of these teams reach the playoffs. So, this matchup could really be thought of as a battle for seeding.
