Pac-12 Conference
The Pac-12 cancelled its season roughly two hours after the Big Ten made the first move, putting football on hold through the remainder of 2020.
In wake of the decision, the Pac-12 #WeAreUnited released a statement.
“It is obvious that the Pac-12 was woefully unprepared to protect college athlete safety in response to COVID-19 and could not address the basic and essential safety demands made by #WeAreUnited,” they said. “The Pac-12’s failures have made it clear that the time for change is now. The system is broken. College athletes deserve and need a real voice in the form of a players association.”
Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott said that athletes will keep their scholarships, and that decisions on how to support them without sports will be made on a “campus-to-campus basis.”
