College football: what the state of the 2020 season looks like in each Power 5 conference

Here’s a look into what the 2020 college football season looks like across the Power 5 — for now.

Big Ten Conference

The Big Ten became the first conference in the Power 5 to cancel fall football this week, though they maintain hope of playing in the spring.

“The mental and physical health and welfare of our student-athletes has been at the center of every decision we have made regarding the ability to proceed forward,” Big Ten Commissioner Kevin Warren said in a statement.

Nebraska Cornhuskers coach Scott Frost held a news conference Monday, essentially announcing that Nebraska would try to go rogue if the conference cancelled the season.

Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren was asked if Nebraska could play football in the fall, and had a firm response.

“No,” he said. “Not and be a member of the Big Ten Conference.”

The cancellation also means we won’t see quarterback Sean Clifford, who could have made a Joe Burrow type of leap this season, and the Nittany Lions take the field at Penn State.
