Wouldn’t this just be the year that Michigan finally gets over the hump, only to not have a shot to win it all?
As the Big Ten eyes a winter season for college football, with a reported January start and an eight game schedule, it now has no shot to put itself in the national championship conversation.
The College Football Playoff Twitter account announced the dates it will reveal weekly rankings, bowl selections — including the Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl as the play-in games — and the date of the national championship game. Being that it starts in November, the bowls will be played on Jan. 1 and the championship game is on Jan. 11, there’s no shot for either the Big Ten or Pac-12 to be represented in the national conversation.
Mark your calendars! 📆

While this certainly affects Michigan, Penn State and Wisconsin, perhaps the team with the biggest gripe at the moment is Ohio State, a team that ranks No. 2 in the newly-released AP Top 25 and returns Heisman Trophy candidate Justin Fields at quarterback.
Regardless, whoever wins the CFP, assuming it goes off with the ACC, SEC and Big 12 intending to play, there will be an asterisk next to the winner’s name if the other two Power Five conferences show out in the winter or spring of 2021.
