The second rankings for the 2022 College Football Playoff were released November 9, and Georgia and Alabama held on to the top two spots. Michigan State — thanks to a loss to Purdue — fell out of the top four, allowing the Pac-12’s Oregon to move into the No. 3 spot. Ohio State slid into the final spot in the top four.
Cincinnati, which was widely seen as snubbed in the initial rankings putting them at No. 6 despite an unbeaten record, got one spot closer to the playoffs at No. 5 while Michigan and Michigan State came in at No. 6 and No. 7, respectively. For those keeping track at home, the Spartans beat the Wolverines just two weeks ago.
