College football could get weird, especially if the Pac-12 plays in the spring

Could the Pac-12 really play in the spring?

Tuesday was a wild day out here in California, the state I call home, as we first learned that Los Angeles County will likely be continuing with the quarantine for another three months.

Then shortly after that made waves on Twitter, we learned that California State Universities will remain closed through the fall semester, meaning students will continue to take classes online from home.

That also means fall sports for those schools, including UCLA and Cal, could very well get cancelled, too.

All sports in the foreseeable future are trying to figure out ways to comeback during this global pandemic. The UFC returned last Saturday, even after a fighter and his two cornermen tested postive for COVID-19 on Friday night, and NASCAR is coming back this weekend. The PGA Tour is scheduled to come back in the middle of June. MLB is trying to figure out a way to get a season going this summer. The NBA is trying but don’t really have anything in place, at least publicly. And the NFL is hoping to just go on as scheduled.

But the California State Universities remaining closed could cause some issues for college football, as well as the other fall sports that take place. Later Tuesday afternoon Fox Sports’ Colin Cowherd tweeted about how sources have told him that the USC-Alabama season-opening game likely won’t happen because USC won’t be able to practice in LA for a while.

Cowherd then said that the feeling now is that the Pac-12 could push football until next spring, which is wild to think about but not entirely crazy because right now all options seem to be on the table for all sports as they try to get back to work.

It would be pretty bonkers for all the Pac-12 football players who want to play for a national championship and bowl games to be the only conference playing in the spring. And if that were to happen you have to think a number of players would transfer to a different school to have a more “normal” season, that is if anything is normal come the fall.

Right now we’re all searching for answers on how to safely have some normality in our day-to-day lives.

And we just might still be waiting for that next fall, or even next spring.

The former Yankees pitcher who was often over 300 pounds during his career now looks like a totally different person as a photo on social media showed him looking absolutely JACKED. Apparently he hasn’t been carb loading like I have during quarantine.
