Russell Wilson was only along for the ride when the Seahawks were at their best, elevated by an all-time great defense and a legendary running back to two consecutive Super Bowls. Since 2015 this has been the Russell Wilson show, though. He’s developed into one of the game’s elite competitors, even if he doesn’t have the MVP votes to show for it.
As great as Wilson has been, the Seahawks haven’t managed to get past the divisional round since the disaster in Arizona. Wilson is off to another strong start in the 2021 season, leading the NFL in passer rating and yards per attempt. However, his team is 2-2 and will have to get past a couple of contenders within their own division to get back to the promised land. It seems a tall order for this group to make a deep playoff run – and it’s fundamentally because this is a top-heavy team with a quarterback who has to be superhuman to keep them competitive from season to season.
Watch Colin Cowherd rant about how little Seattle has done well outside of Wilson since the 2015 season.
"What does Seattle do well beyond the reach of Russell Wilson? The answer is nothing."
