Colin Cowherd is walking back his report that Caleb Williams doesn’t want to play for the Bears

Yeaaaah, not sure who Colin Cowherd was talking to about all this.

The Chicago Bears have the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. USC’s Caleb Williams is one of the best players in the draft — especially at quarterback.

So, naturally, one would think that the Bear are probably considering taking Williams with that first pick. One might be wrong, though. At least, according to what FS1’s Colin Cowherd was telling us yesterday.

While talking about Williams on his show, Cowherd reported that Williams and “his group” did not want to go to Chicago and play for the Bears. He made it very clear that whoever he spoke with told him that the interest wasn’t there.

I do think it’s possible that Washington trade up and that Chicago allows Washington to trade up. Because Caleb and his group do not want to go to Chicago.”

Sounds pretty convincing, right? Now, 24 hours later, here he is walking the entire thing back.

“So I got a call from the Caleb Willams camp and they went ‘whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Colin. We don’t want to be painted as anti-Chicago and we don’t want to be painted as anti-Bear.’ And they made it clear to me, listen, ‘We don’t want to go to a city that doesn’t care. Chicago cares. They’re big, loud, they’re passionate. They fire coaches all the time. They care,’.”

So that’s that on that, I guess. It seems like Caleb Williams and his “camp” were never opposed to going to the Bears at all.

Where’d Cowherd come up with that first story? No idea. But it’ the complete opposite of what he said after taking that call.

Sounds like you have nothing at all to worry about, Bears fans. If Chicago wants to go Caleb Williams at No. 1, then Chicago will go Caleb Williams at No. 1. And it sounds like the quarterback would be fine with that.
