Cody Williams, the highest-rated recruit in Colorado men’s basketball history, is in Boulder and preparing for his freshman season. It’s very possible that he’ll be a one-and-done college player, but that won’t come without a productive next few months.
In a recent interview with Will Darkey of DNVR Buffs, the 6-foot-8, 180-pound Williams revealed that putting on weight is his primary focus this summer. The five-star small forward appears well aware of the jump from high school to Division I and he’s hoping to make things at least a little easier on the physical side (h/t DNVR Buffs).
Getting into the gym and building muscle is a big focus for Williams this summer for his freshman season at CU.
“My biggest thing is getting my weight up and getting stronger because now I’m playing against grown men at this point,” Williams told DNVR Buffs. “So I just want to put on some extra pounds.”
Williams, who recently played in the 2023 McDonald’s All-American Game, added that he’s no stranger to facing top-tier talent and that’s helping ease any pressure ahead of his first college season.
