The Colorado Buffaloes men’s basketball team didn’t see any players selected in the 2023 NBA draft, which wasn’t surprising. However, the 2024 NBA draft will surely be a different turn of events.
The Buffs have five-star freshman Cody Williams entering the program this season, and he has already drawn NBA buzz before even playing a game in Boulder.
Travis Branham of 247Sports dropped a way-too-early 2024 NBA draft Big Board just, and Williams landed at No. 5 on his list. Here’s what he wrote about the Buffs’ talented freshman:
Cody Williams is one of the most intriguing prospects in the 2024 Draft Class. He’s far from a finished product and like his older brother, Jaylen Williams, he has all of the markings of a late-bloomer. The 6-foot-8 Williams has shown feel and ability as a scorer and passer throughout his high school career, making for a Swiss Army Knife-type prospect, but still has to hone in on his skillset and especially his body to make a consistent impact. Regardless, seeing the development of someone of the same gene code there is a lot to like about the future of this Colorado-bound player.
USC guard Isaiah Collier is one spot ahead of Williams, and Bronny James is at the end of the first round, although a lot can change over the next year. Nonetheless, there is a ton to like about what Williams brings to the table, and the Buffs have all the potential to make a run at the NCAA Tournament.
There’s also a strong chance that Colorado senior Tristan da Silva sees his name called next year.
