If the NBA doesn’t know about star Chicago Bulls guard Coby White by know, it’s obviously been sleeping.
White, the former Tar Heel, is playing his way into a full-time starting role. He was supposed to hold down Chicago’s point guard spot while Lonzo Ball continues recovering from an injury, but White’s play this season will force the Bulls’ front office to make a tough decision when Ball comes back.
White currently averages 18.5 points per game, which is Top-50 in the entire NBA. In recent weeks, he’s typically been Chicago’s top scorer.
One of White’s many All-Star-esque outings came last night, as he dropped 30 points on the Houston Rockets in a 124-119, overtime Bulls win.
In Chicago’s victory, which kept it ninth (Play-In Tournament seed) in the Eastern Conference standings, White reached the 20-point mark for the fourth consecutive game. He shot over 52 percent for the third-straight outing, only the second time that’s occurred this season.

Tar Heel Nation knew all about White’s scoring prowess in college, as he averaged 16.1 points per game during the 2018-2019 campaign. UNC went to the Sweet 16 that year as a 1-seed, losing to Auburn.
Anyone recall the other former Tar Heel who was a Bulls great? (Hint hint, he’s the GOAT).
White has a while before he achieves all-time great status, but I can confidently say he’s a valuable part of Chicago’s future.
