For the past few years, DeMar DeRozan has been the Chicago Bulls’ closer. Ever since they signed him in the summer of 2021, he’s returned to All-Star form in one of the most impressive career turnarounds in recent memory. He’s been clutch and consistent, hitting some big-time shots for the Bulls over the course of the past few seasons.
But now, they may have a new closer to utilize. Coby White has been taking a massive leap this season. After signing a new contract this past summer, he’s been one of the best players on the team, and the Bulls are trusting him to take some late-game shots.
In the Bulls’ recent loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, White got the last shot, but he missed it. Regardless, his team showed him support, and White appreciated the trust they put in him. (H/t Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune)
“It’s probably the first time in my career I’ve been trusted in those type of moments,” White said. “For me to take steps in the right direction to become the player that I want to become in this league, I need those moments. It’s all part of the learning process. It’s all part of the journey.”
As of now, White is the future of the Bulls.
