Ahead of this weekend’s battle with the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Colorado football head coach Deion Sanders provided an update on injured safety Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig.
Silmon-Craig played in only 10 defensive snaps during the Buffs’ season opener against North Dakota State before exiting with an injury. The exact nature of the injury is unknown, but the senior defensive back took a significant hit to his head early in the game, leading some to speculate he suffered a concussion.
Here’s what Coach Prime said on Tuesday when asked about Silmon-Craig’s status:
“He’s doing well,” Sanders said. “I think he may be cleared tomorrow. We’re praying so because he is one of the bonafide leaders of the defense, leaders on the team. His passion is second to none. He’s second to none the way he plays the game. When he goes down, it’s definitely a deficit in our secondary as well as in our defense. He is the communicator. He and Shilo (Sanders), but he is even more of a communicator than Shilo is.”
After exiting Thursday’s game in the first half, Silmon-Craig was replaced by Savion Riley. The former Vanderbilt and Miami transfer recorded seven total tackles, including one TFL.
