CAMDEN, N.J. — The Philadelphia 76ers are dealing with a variety of injuries as they chug along through the 2023-24 season. While the Sixers will welcome Kelly Oubre Jr. back on Wednesday when they take on the Washington Wizards, they have another injury to worry about.
Nic Batum, who left Nov. 29’s loss to the New Orleans Pelicans with a finger injury and missed Friday’s loss to the Boston Celtics, is still recovering. With the Sixers getting back to work at practice on Tuesday, coach Nick Nurse gave an update on his veteran forward.
“About half the stuff,” Nurse said of Batum’s participation in practice. “Again, we’re just being super — like just no sense really in putting them in the live stuff right now. Just trying to give him as many days to get that thing feeling better. I don’t think it’s going to keep him out in any shape or form right now, but just kind of abundance of caution of not letting it get hit again today.”
Batum is averaging 6.9 points and 4.1 rebounds while shooting 56.3% from deep in 10 games with the Sixers, including seven starts. One should expect Batum to be ready to go against the Wizards on Wednesday, but it remains to be seen.
