Clippers vs. Lakers recap: Paul George goes off as Clips spoil ring night

The Los Angeles Lakers won their championship rings but the Los Angeles Clippers stole the show on ring night.

The Los Angeles Lakers received their amazing championship rings on Tuesday night before their season opener against the Los Angeles Clippers, but they did not leave the Staples Center feeling like winners as the Clippers looked motivated to move on from last year’s disappointment during the Lakers coronation. The much-maligned Paul George, who earned an extension before the season worth $190 million, led all scorers in Tuesday night’s game with 33 points and six rebounds. In addition George’s big game, Kawhi Leonard scored 26 points on the night to support the hot shooting of George. The Lakers tied the game with five minutes left in the third quarter but after that, the Clippers dominated the game.

LeBron James led the Lakers with 22 points and also led the Lakers in 3-pointers, making 3 of 8 shots from deep. He also had five assists and five rebounds. Newcomer Dennis Schröder had 14 poinrs and eight assists, while Frank Vogel elected to start Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (9 points) over Kyle Kuzma (15 points) in the first agme of the season.
