The Cleveland Browns (1-3) meet the Washington Commanders (3-1) for a Week 5 game at Northwest Stadium Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET (FOX). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NFL odds around the Browns vs. Commanders odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

The Browns suffered a 20-16 loss on the road against the Las Vegas Raiders, a team which was playing without its top offensive player, WR Davante Adams, and its best defensive player, DE Maxx Crosby.

Cleveland has had a terrible time with the offensive line being banged up, and QB Deshaun Watson just hasn’t had any time. The Browns have scored 18 or fewer points in all 4 games, and they’re just 1-3 against the spread (ATS), while the Under has cashed in 3 straight outings.

The good news for the Browns is that RB Nick Chubb (knee) was able to return to practice this week. He hasn’t played in an NFL game since suffering a gruesome knee injury in Pittsburgh in Week 2 of the 2023 season, but he still won’t play in Week 5.

The Commanders appear to finally have their franchise QB, as Heisman winner Jayden Daniels is off to a red-hot start. He has completed 82.1% of his passes for 897 yards, 3 TDs and 1 INT, while running for 218 yards and 4 scores.

Washington has won and covered 3 in a row since a 37-20 loss at Tampa Bay in Week 1. The Over has connected in 3 of 4 games to date, too.

Browns at Commanders picks and predictions

Prediction

Commanders 26, Browns 16

Moneyline

The COMMANDERS (-165) will cost you nearly 2 times your potential return, but they’re worth playing if you’re an ultra-conservative bettor who doesn’t want to fool around with laying the points.

The Browns (+140) have shown little to no offense in all 4 games, and it’s hard to see how they’ll be able to keep up with the high-flying Washington offense.

Against the spread

The COMMANDERS -3 (-115) are a strong play against the toothless Browns +3 (-105) offense.

Washington has averaged 40.0 PPG in the past 2 games, while covering 3 in a row. That includes the only home game, a 21-18 win and cover against the New York Giants in Week 2.

The Browns are just 1-3 ATS in 4 tries, although be a little cautious, as they somehow managed to win in Jacksonville in Week 2. The defense for Cleveland is dangerous, even if the offense is hot garbage.

Over/Under

UNDER 43.5 (-110) is the lean, but go with a half-unit play at most.

The Commanders have rolled up some big-time point totals in Cincinnati and Arizona, and they now return home.

The Browns have struggled to put points on the board, as the offensive line has been terrible. Njoku has been missing in action — he’s 50-50 to play Sunday — and Cleveland has been down Chubb all season. The offense could be on the rise soon, but this isn’t the week.
