Browns at Giants: Game notes

  • The Browns are coming off a 47-42 loss on Monday night against the division-rival Ravens, one of the most exciting games of the 2020 NFL regular season. While it wasn’t a great showing for the defense, obviously, the offense was crisp for most of the night.
  • Browns RB Nick Chubb rushed for 82 yards and two touchdowns vs. Baltimore, and he has scored at least one time in three straight (four total). In two of his three previous games against the NFC East, he has posted a 100-yard game, including 108 yards and two touchdowns against Washington in Week 3.
  • Giants QB Daniel Jones (hamstring, ankle) won’t be starting this one, so former Browns QB Colt McCoy will get a start against his old team. McCoy started his career in Cleveland, appearing in 24 games from 2010-12 with 21 touchdowns and 20 interceptions.
  • The Giants saw their four-game win streak halted last week against the Arizona Cardinals, who routed Big Blue 26-7 as three-point favorites. That loss knocked the Giants out of first place in the NFC East. The Under has cashed in five straight for the G-Men.
  • Cleveland enters 12th in the NFL with 374.2 total yards per game, and they’re third with 156.2 rushing yards per contest. They’re also hoisting up 26.8 PPG, ranking 13th. Defensively, they are rather middling in most categories, and they allow 28.3 PPG to rank 27th.

Browns at Giants: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Browns 30, Giants 13

Money line (?)

The Browns (-300) are vying for their 10th victory of the season, which is rather impressive. But, they’re still the Browns and posting up three times your potential return is still very risky behavior. AVOID.

Against the spread (?)

The BROWNS -6.5 (-110) have seen money pouring in on them, driving the line up from an open of three to nearly a flat seven. It still might get there. Cleveland’s offense looked great last week, getting conversions and scores whenever they needed them, while the Giants +6.5 (-110) were limited to just one touchdown. Whether or not Danny Dimes plays, this offense is still rather moribund.

Over/Under (?)

UNDER 44.5 (-110) is the slight lean, and worth a small-unit wager. The Browns offense should be able to do their fair share of damage, but the Giants are averaging just 14.3 PPG across the past three, hitting the Under in five straight overall.
