For the second straight week, the Clemson Tigers are on the rise in the US LBM Coaches Poll, which also saw a shakeup in the top five.
With Clemson (1-1) having a bye this weekend, the Tigers moved up one spot to No. 19 in the Coaches Poll after Arizona’s 31-7 loss to Kansas State on Friday night. Arizona had been ranked two spots ahead of Clemson at No. 18.
For the first time this season, a new team sits at No. 2 in the Coaches Poll: Texas. The Longhorns (3-0) leapfrogged Ohio State after posting a 56-7 blowout win over UTSA Saturday night.
The Buckeyes (2-0) had a bye this weekend. Georgia remained No. 1 after a close call against Kentucky in Lexington Saturday. Alabama (No. 4, 3-0) and Ole Miss (No. 5, 3-0) rounded out the top five.
Elsewhere in the top 10, Tennessee (3-0) rose two spots to No. 7 after a 71-0 blowout victory over Kent State to jump both Penn State (2-0) and Missouri (3-0).
Within the ACC, Miami (3-0) rose one spot to No. 11 after dismantling Ball State, 62-0, at Hard Rock Stadium. The Hurricanes face South Florida at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa next Saturday. Louisville (2-0), which also had a bye Saturday, moved up one spot to No. 20. The Cardinals host Georgia Tech in Week 4.
Clemson will host NC State in Death Valley at noon ET this Saturday. The game will be televised nationally on ABC.
