Clemson rises in USA TODAY Sports’ re-rank of all 134 FBS teams

Clemson oved up one spot in USA TODAY Sports’ weekly ranking of all 134 FBS teams, jumping the LSU Tigers among the top 10 teams.

Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers have a bye this Saturday.

Whether that’s a good thing could depend on who you ask because the Tigers have won six straight contests while outscoring their opponents by an average of 27.3 points per game.

At 6-1 overall and 5-0 in conference play, the Tigers are in prime position to play for the ACC title and reach the College Football Playoff. That journey continues Nov. 2 when the Louisville Cardinals visit Death Valley in Week 10.

Clemson also faces road trips at Virginia Tech and Pitt in November’s ACC slate, in addition to hosting The Citadel in nonconference play and the annual rivalry with South Carolina on Nov. 30.

This week, Clemson jumped LSU to move up one spot to No. 8 in USA TODAY Sports’ re-ranking of all 134 FBS teams. Cade Klubnik and crew are ranked one spot below the Texas Longhorns on the list following their double-digit loss to the Georgia Bulldogs in Week 8.

The Oregon Ducks stayed atop USA TODAY’s re-ranking at No. 1 overall, followed by Georgia at No. 2, Ohio State at No. 3, Penn State at No. 4, and the Miami Hurricanes at No. 5.

Miami hosts the Florida State Seminoles this Saturday before former coach Manny Diaz and the Duke Blue Devils visit on Nov. 2.
