Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik led his team to a 48-31 win over Virginia, continuing the Tigers’ high-scoring trend with their fifth 40-point game of the season. Though Clemson improved to 6-1 overall and 5-0 in the ACC, Klubnik wasn’t entirely satisfied with his performance despite throwing for 309 yards and three touchdowns.
Klubnik completed 23 of 35 passes, marking his third 300-yard game of the season, but threw his first interception since late September. Reflecting on the game, he expressed frustration with some of his throws, including an overthrow to a wide-open Jake Briningstool in the end zone.
“I’m pretty upset about a couple of my throws today,” Klubnik admitted. “Some days, it’s just not there. I’ll take a look at it and figure out what went wrong, but it’s just mechanics, so I’m not too worried.”
Despite the self-criticism, Klubnik acknowledged the team’s resilience, highlighting how they still managed to generate over 500 yards of total offense.
“You get peace knowing that even when things aren’t perfect, we’re still able to put up big numbers,” Klubnik said. “That speaks to the group around me — the offensive line and the receivers making big plays all day.”
With a bye week coming up, Klubnik and the Tigers will have extra time to fine-tune their game before taking on Louisville in Death Valley on Nov. 2.
