Clemson’s passing attack has been on fire against the Appalachian State Mountaineers.
Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik is lighting Appalachian State’s defense, scoring five touchdowns in the first quarter. Klubnik started with a 76-yard touchdown to Bryant Wesco, quickly followed by a two-yard rushing score. After Phil Mafah broke free for an 83-yard touchdown, Klubnik connected with Jake Briningstool on a 41-yard pass and added a 29-yard strike to Antonio Williams to cap off an explosive quarter.
The Tigers’ offense, which struggled in Week 1, looked unstoppable, with big plays coming from multiple key players. Klubnik’s ability to spread the ball around and find the open man energized the team and crowd alike.
The thing is, a five-touchdown first half wasn’t enough for Klubnik. To extend the lead to 49-7, Klubnik connected with freshman wide receiver T.J. Moore for a 33-yard touchdown. It was Moore’s first career touchdown, as the Tigers’ offense looks unstoppable.
