The Clemson Tigers will take the field at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte for tonight’s ACC Championship Game against SMU in a pretty familiar — and iconic — look.
As the designated visiting team, the Tigers will wear their road white jerseys over their iconic orange pants. The team announced its uniform combination across social media Saturday.
SMU football will wear its home blue jerseys over white pants with white helmets, the program announced earlier in the week.
It’s the first time this season that Clemson will pair its “orange britches” with white jerseys. The Tigers typically only wear their orange pants for championship/bowl games or the annual rivalry game vs. South Carolina. Danny Ford started the tradition in 1980, a year before Clemson won its first national title in school history.
The last time the Tigers donned the white-over-orange combination was in their 38-35 win over the Kentucky Wildcats in the 2023 Gator Bowl in Jacksonville to close the year.
Kickoff for Clemson vs. SMU is set for 8 p.m. ET. The game will be televised on ABC, with Sean McDonough and Greg McElroy calling the action. Molly McGrath will report from the sidelines.
A Clemson win would ensure the Tigers of a berth in the 12-team College Football Playoff (CFP).
