Erik Bakich and the Clemson baseball team are off to a hot start this season.
Clemson is currently 3-0, sweeping Xavier with three home wins. They haven’t been tested on the road yet, but the Tigers bats looked excellent at home in their first real action of the season.
Following the week, rankings have been updated, with Clemson ranking No. 10 in the country after the week by D1Baseball. The Tigers also ranked No. 9 from Baseball America. Here is what Baseball America had to say about the Tigers’ week.
“The Tigers this weekend cruised to a series sweep of Xavier. They scored double-digit runs twice and received contributions from nearly everyone in the lineup. Most notably, 2023 ACC freshman of the year Cam Cannarella went 7-for-13 and infielder Blake Wright went 6-for-14. On the bump, Billy Barlow (5 IP, 0 ER) and Tristan Smith (4 IP, 1 ER) each turned in strong starts and a handful of bullpen arms had spotless appearances,” said Baseball America.
These are the type of starts you want from a program, but this is just the beginning. Clemson has a lot of work to do in a tough ACC.
