C.J. Stroud ‘together 24-7’ with his fellow Texans rookies

Houston QB C.J. Stroud is working extra time with Texans receivers including fellow rookies Tank Dell and Xavier Hutchinson

As the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft, it’s only a matter of time before C.J. Stroud takes over as the starting quarterback for the Houston Texans. Stroud is prepping himself for the gig by immersing himself with his Texans teammates, notably rookie pass catchers Tank Dell and Xavier Hutchinson.

Stroud has been spending extra time working with teammates in advance of training camp. Along with vets Nico Collins, Dalton Schultz and QB Davis Mills, Stroud is building chemistry and practicing the offense with Dell and Hutchinson.

“Yeah, we’re together 24-7,” Stroud said via KPRC in Houston. “We’re doing all the hard stuff together, all the good stuff and we’re blessed enough to have a great rookie class. Those guys are at the forefront of that and we’re going to do well.”

Dell is expected to have a big role in the Texans offense. The third-rounder from Houston brings speed and elusiveness after the catch. Hutchinson, one of Houston’s two sixth-round picks, offers size and strength on the outside. Both rookie wideouts excelled at the 2023 Senior Bowl and should help make life easier for Stroud as he transitions from Ohio State to Houston.
