City of Los Angeles naming part of Figueroa ‘Kobe Bryant Boulevard’

The City of Los Angeles announced that they are naming part of one of their biggest streets after the legend Kobe Bryant.

Later this evening, the Los Angeles Lakers will honor the memory of Kobe Bryant by wearing special ‘Black Mamba’ jerseys that will feature a snakeskin print on the jersey and a classic Lakers drop shadow font when they face off against the Portland Trail Blazers in tonight’s Game 4. But with yesterday being Kobe’s birthday and today’s date of 8/24 marking the two numbers that he wore as a Laker, the City of Los Angeles unveiled something that will honor Bryant’s legacy for a long time to come.

The City of Los Angeles announced on Monday that they will rename a three-mile section of Figueroa Street, right where the Staples Center is, “Kobe Bryant Boulevard.”

Ever since Bryant’s tragic death, along with his daughter Gianna and seven others in a helicopter crash earlier this year, the memory of Bryant has been a constant both for the Los Angeles Lakers and for the NBA community. Tonight’s gesture of honoring Kobe will only bring about those feelings again.
