The Cincinnati Bengals took another step toward a top-10 pick in the 2021 NFL draft with a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers over the weekend.
Granted, that’s not the type of progress the Bengals want to make during Joe Burrow’s first season.
But as Draft Wire’s Luke Easterling pointed out, the Bengals now slot seventh in the 2021 draft order.
And the bigger outlook is interesting, to say the least. The Bengals probably won’t catch the 0-9 New York Jets for the very top pick, but the one-win Jacksonville Jaguars at No. 2 aren’t out of reach. Otherwise, every team in front of the Bengals also only has two wins.
Looking ahead, the Bengals have some seemingly easy games against teams from the NFC East that could help them pick up some wins. But if for some reason things collapse, they’ll easily remain in the top-10 hunt, if not sneak into the top five.
