The Cincinnati Bengals, after an expected delay, announced eight free-agency signings on Wednesday.

There aren’t any surprises among the announced, headed up by big expenditures on Trae Waynes and D.J. Reader:

  • CB Mackensie Alexander
  • CB LeShaun Sims
  • CB Trae Waynes
  • DT D.J. Reader
  • LB Josh Bynes
  • S Vonn Bell
  • G Xavier Su’a-Filo
  • WR Mike Thomas

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor offered the following:

“We were aggressive in free agency and added key players who immediately help our team get better. These players are excited to come to Cincinnati and recognize we’re on the verge of something special, but we still have a lot of hard work in front of us.”

On April 3, a report had initially said Reader’s deal with the Bengals was done, pending additional language pertaining to physicals. That’s the case with every announced signing here — all are still pending passing team physicals at a later date.

While some teams have been fine with outsourcing physicals to third-party doctors near signed players, the Bengals want it taken care of in-house when applicable.
