The Cincinnati Bengals have been a polarizing topic in power rankings all offseason coming off that Super Bowl appearance.
An unprecedented run, paired with the general erratic way power rankings get assembled by the various rankers and other factors tend to have the Bengals placed all over the place.
But in the Week 1 power rankings from Touchdown Wire’s Mark Lane, the Bengals get some top-five love:
“The Bengals did everything they could this offseason to fortify an offensive line that was truly… well, offensive in 2021. If that unit can keep Joe Burrow upright in the new season, combine that with Burrow’s weapons and an underrated defense, and the defending AFC champs will be a formidable opponent every week.”
That offensive line remains the biggest talking point for the Bengals after replacing four starters. The most volatile could be left guard Cordell Volson, the fourth-rounder tasked with starting right in Week 1 against the Steelers.
Given where the Bengals have ranked in some power rankings this offseason, it’s hard to complain about No. 4 behind only Kansas City, the Los Angeles Rams and Buffalo.
