The Cincinnati Bengals plan to start training camp normally near the end of July barring a change in negotiations between the NFL and NFLPA.
As it stands currently, these are the key dates to know:
- July 21: Rookies report
- July 23: Rookies get on the field and veteran QBs and injured players report
- July 28: Veterans report
This is all very much a tentative schedule — and it has some wrinkles. The rookies have to get tested for coronavirus after reporting, so whether they’re on the field two days later remains to be seen. Same story for all other arrivals.
Provided nothing changes, Burrow and the draft class could have official contracts with the team signed before the end of the month. That July 28 date is where we could see A.J. Green officially sign his franchise tag. Free agents like Trae Waynes — who already moved to the city and has been in limbo — also figure to sign shortly after.
But again — all of this could change at any moment. A few teams are due to report to camps in the coming days but the how of camps and preseason games, if there are any at all, remain up in the air.
