While Cincinnati Bengals players prepped on the field for the team’s Week 1 game against the Minnesota Vikings, it also went public with this year’s official list of captains.
And none of the names should come as a surprise: Joe Burrow, Tyler Boyd, Jessie Bates, Vonn Bell, Joe Mixon, Sam Hubbard and Kevin Hubert.
Boyd, Mixon, Bates and Hubbard are all first-time captains. They represent the foundational building blocks the franchise cemented in stone as leaders, both in the locker room and on the field.
In past years, guys like A.J. Green and Giovani Bernard were captains before handing things off to the next generation. As newcomers last year, Burrow and Bell were captains and again get the honor here.
O CAPTAIN! MY CAPTAIN!
