Christin Stewart gets two hits in 17-13 win over Pirates.

PITTSBURGH — The Detroit Tigers played their first game in nearly a week Friday night. They had a four-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals postponed and the time off appeared certainly did not hurt the Tigers’ offense.

Upon its return to the diamond for the first time in five days, Detroit pounded out 16 hits en route to capturing a 17-13 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates in a slugfest at PNC Park.

In the game, one former University of Tennessee baseball player joined in on the hit parade.

Detroit left fielder Christin Stewart went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI in the victory for the Tigers, who improved their 2020 record to 6-5.

Stewart, who got off to a slow start is now batting .241 with one home run and three RBIs.
