The Miami Dolphins season ended on Saturday as the Phins fell to the Kansas City Chiefs 26-7 on the road. With the loss, another great season from former Clemson star Christian Wilkins came to an end.
Now heading into their offseason, the Dolphins and Wilkins have a lot of work to do. Wilkins rookie contract is done, meaning Miami either has to resign him or let him walk. It should be a huge contract for Wilkins, who is arguably the best defensive player on the Miami roster.
The two parties attempted to work out a deal last offseason but couldn’t come to terms on an agreement. A year later and after another great season, it’s safe to say that the Dolphins will be paying more than they offered last season if they can work out a deal. Following the loss, Wilkins addressed his future with the team.
“I definitely love this team, love this organization. This is home, this is who drafted me and everything like that but we’ll see what happens down the road. I don’t want to make this about me, I just want to focus on the team that we had and our last time this year with the guys,” Wilkins said.
