The Chicago Bears have some pressing needs this offseason, and wide receiver is near the top of the list. Whether Chicago decides to go all-in with free agency, the NFL draft or a combination of the two remains to be seen. But it’s a roster hole that will be addressed.
If the Bears are looking to pair quarterback Justin Fields with a young wideout in this year’s draft, there are no shortage of options. One name that’s been linked to Chicago often during the mock season has been North Dakota State receiver Christian Watson.
Watson, who’s participating in the NFL Combine this week, told reporters that he’s met with the Bears at the Senior Bowl and the NFL Combine so far. Which is significant, considering he impressed enough during the Senior Bowl to warrant another meeting.

Watson possesses some impressive athleticism, speed, length and size with good hands that makes him a dangerous deep threat. But he does have limited experience during his time at North Dakota State, which could cause some teams to be more cautious. There’s also the concern about some drop issues.
But there’s no denying Watson’s upside is attractive, and a potential pairing of Fields and Watson is an exciting thought. And considering the Bears have met with him on multiple occasions, it looks like they might feel the same.
