Christian Moore’s home run propels No. 1 Tennessee in extra innings at Florida.

No. 1 Tennessee needed extra innings to complete its fifth Southeastern Conference sweep of the season Sunday.

The Volunteers (37-3, 17-1 SEC) overcame a four-run deficit to defeat Florida (23-17, 7-11 SEC), 6-4, in 11 innings at Condron Field in Gainesville.

The Gators scored two runs in the first inning and tallied single runs in the fourth and sixth frames to open a 4-0 advantage.

Tennessee responded as freshman designated hitter Christian Moore produced late-game heroics, helping the Vols win its sixth consecutive game.

Moore tied the game with a two-run single in the ninth inning after Jorel Ortega pulled UT to within, 4-2, with a solo home run earlier in the frame.

Moore put the Vols ahead, 6-4, in the top of the 11th inning with a two-run home run. He finished 2-for-4 with four RBI’s.

Tennessee relief pitcher Redmond Walsh held the Gators scoreless. He pitched three innings en route to improving to 2-0 in 2022. Walsh recorded three walks and struck out one.

Trey Lipscomb drove in the Vols’ first run when his groundout plated Drew Gilbert.

Drew Beam started and pitched four innings for Tennessee. He surrendered three runs, four hits and three walks, while striking out one.

Will Mabrey and Mark McLaughlin also appeared in relief for the Vols.
