When he’s healthy, Christian McCaffrey is one of the most explosive players in the league. The first half of that sentence is the operative phrase.
The 26-year-old may still be just scratching the surface of his prime, but after three fantastic campaigns to begin his career, his last two have been plagued by injuries. He’s appeared in just 10 games in that span, and that has made him a high-risk, high-reward option in fantasy football.
McCaffrey was still seen as the consensus No. 2 overall fantasy option this season behind Jonathan Taylor, but anyone who drafted him got some worrying news on Thursday. He appeared on the Carolina Panthers’ injury report after taking a cleat to the shin in practice.
Luckily for McCaffrey — and a great number of fantasy football managers — he was taken off the injury report on Friday and should be in a good spot to play in Carolina’s season-opener on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.
Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey is off the injury report for Week 1 and is good to go after taking a cleat to the shin in practice on Thursday.
