Christian Kirksey was a fan favorite almost upon arrival in Cleveland. His hard-charging style and relentless energy quickly won over fans, teammates and coaching staff as a rookie in 2014.
Now the linebacker’s time in Cleveland has come to an end. Kirksey was released by the Browns on Tuesday. After missing 23 games in the last two seasons and due nearly $10 million in salary, it was not an unexpected move.
Kirksey was a team captain and remained quite popular in the locker room in Cleveland. He was also one of the most engaging Browns with fans and frequently represented the organization in community events.
Always classy, Kirksey thanked the loyal and supportive Browns fans following his release.
FOREVER GRATEFUL! Thank you Cleveland for the amazing years! Thank you to the entire organization, my teammates, the Haslems for giving me an opportunity of a lifetime and most of all thank you to the city of Cleveland for accepting me as their own! Forever Love, Kirkoland Out! pic.twitter.com/vjcA4nMSZL
