New England Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez was downgraded to out for the rest of Saturday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers with a concussion.
The injury happened during a tackle on Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey. Gonzalez was shaken up after the play, and he immediately headed into the medical tent.
The second-year corner has been a key part of the Patriots defense so far this season. He has played in 90 percent of the defensive snaps for New England. The injury came at the midway point of the second quarter in a physical game against the Chargers.
This injury will be worth monitoring with only one game left on the Patriots’ regular season schedule. Gonzalez has had injury problems over the course of his career to this point.
Here’s hoping this isn’t the last the team sees of him in game action this season.
