Christian Barmore says the Patriots still have their ‘2-4 mindset’

Christian Barmore likes being an underdog for Saturday’s game against the Colts.

As the New England Patriots get ready to face the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday, defensive tackle Christian Barmore is embracing the underdog mentality.

Barmore, a 2021 second-round pick, has been a welcome addition to the New England defensive line. He has recorded 31 total tackles on the season and has recorded at least one tackle in each of his past five games. He recorded four tackles each against the Cleveland Browns and Tennessee Titans.

Coming into the game, the Patriots are being viewed as underdogs. It’s a role that Barmore seems to embrace. Even as the Patriots have found their footing, that mindset is something the defensive tackle carries with him to this day as noted by Zack Cox of NESN.com

“I love it — underdogs, out the mud. The guys like us, we’re going to be real dangerous, so we’re just going to keep coming with that 2-4 mindset every day.”

“Me, I love playing on the road. I love being the enemy. I love when we go to someone else(‘s stadium) and do our thing. I love playing on the road, and my guys do, too.”

As far as playing on the road is concerned, the Patriots will have only one final chance to do so. That will happen when they take on the Miami Dolphins in the season finale. As for now, Barmore and the rest of the defense have their eyes set on stopping the potent Indianapolis offense.
