The Lakers and Trail Blazers played a great Game 1 of their first round playoff series on Tuesday night, with Damian Lillard leading Portland to a huge 100-93 victory that went down to the wire.
While it’s fun to have playoff basketball games like this back in our lives, it’s not so fun to have these games with Chris Webber involved in the broadcast. He was the analyst in the Blazers-Lakers game and he was his normal dreadful self. If he’s not rambling on like he’s trying to figure out where he’s going with his train of thought then he’s just saying things that are straight up wrong.
I’ve gone on before about how bad Webber is at calling games, which hurts me because he was one of my favorite college basketball players of all time during his two years with Michigan.
But as a broadcaster? Yeah, he’s really rough. And I’m not alone with those feelings.
Fans watching the game were rightly back to ripping Webber:
Chris Webber’s explanation of the block/charge: “It’s whoever got the foot down first.”
IIRC the NBA officials who have spent hours tutoring us media on this rule have never said anything like that.

It be a whole game going on and a key sequence and Chris Webber just randomly start telling a long ass story like
"Yeah James, it was 1996, I was still just a young buck in this league and Michael Jeffery Jordan grabbed me by the arm and said 'young fella…" like we GAF
