Chris Simms wants to see Redskins do something other than Chase Young

But should they?

The list of people who want to see the Washington Redskins do something other than take Chase Young at No. 2 continues to grow, at least marginally.

Count Chris Simms as part of the party who thinks it would be exciting to do something other than Young, as captured NBC Sports’ Ethan Cadeaux:

“The Redskins defensive line is real already,” Simms said. “Do they want to put another asset in there? You just got a rookie first-rounder in Montez Sweat. Ryan Kerrigan is still there. You got the Alabama boys in the middle with [Jonathan] Allen and Daron Payne. That’s a pretty good front four.”

Truthfully, it’s not a terrible argument. The Redskins already have a ton invested in the first two levels of the defense with Jonathan Allen and Daron Payne, not to mention Ryan Kerrigan and Montez Sweat. And who could forget Matt Ioannidis in there, too?

But the counterargument is easy: Chase Young is just that good.

Most would probably agree it isn’t a good idea to go away from the best player available in the top five.

That’s going to be Young, though this won’t be the last Redskins fans hear about the team needing to do something else.
