Chris Lawson has become a must-get prospect for the Washington Huskies

The Washington Huskies need to do everything in their power to secure a commitment from four-star prospect Chris Lawson.

The Washington Huskies have earned some promising commitments, but still have a lot of work to do in the 2025 class. Jedd Fisch’s coaching staff has reeled in some exciting prospects, including four-star offensive lineman Champ Taulealea, three-star wide receiver Raiden Vines-Bright, and three-star quarterback Dash Beierly.

Four-star wide receiver Chris Lawson is next on Fisch’s list of priorities and is set to choose between the Huskies, Oregon Ducks, and California Golden Bears on June 21.

His announcement is a golden opportunity for Washington’s staff, especially wide receivers coach Kevin Cummings, to earn a win over their rivals on the recruiting trail. Lawson, ranked as the nation’s No. 24 wide receiver by 247Sports, would be a great addition to the class both on and off the field.

Off the field, he regains the momentum that the coaching staff captured with its first blue-chip commitment in Taulealea and could help be an extra selling point to the official visitors who will be on campus over the weekend.

On the field, he is a promising playmaker who thrives after the catch.

“Lawson has an impressive combination of speed and fluidity that will make him a potentially elite separator at the college level,” Huskies Wire’s Ben Glassmire said in his evaluation of the 6-foot, 180-pound prospect from Archbishop Riordan High School in California.

“He can easily carry speed through breaks and sink his hips into stems before exploding out of the other side. After the catch is another area where Lawson can shine, the quickness he has again shows up as he can stop and redirect with ease to make defenders miss.”

With some of the losses the Huskies have suffered in recent days, with four-star linebacker Christian Thatcher picking Utah, and fellow blue-chip prospects Mark Iheanachor, Chinedu Onyeagoro, and Smith Orogbo receiving crystal ball predictions to choose other schools, getting Lawson to choose Washington would be a great sign that the Huskies are getting things going in the right direction on the recruiting trail.
