Chris Harris says he will return to Broncos if they want him back

Broncos cornerback Chris Harris plans to test free agency in March.

Since joining the team in 2011, Broncos cornerback Chris Harris has emerged as one of the best defensive backs in franchise history. He’s made four Pro Bowls, won a Super Bowl and recorded 20 interceptions.

After all that, Harris is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in March. The 30-year-old cornerback doesn’t sound very confident that Denver will bring him back for a 10th season.

During an interview on 104.3 The Fan earlier this week, Harris seemed to indicate that landing with a new team might be more probable than being re-signed by the Broncos. He plans to test free agency.

“I think that’s the direction right now,” Harris said via The Athletic‘s Nicki Jhabvala (subscription required). “I think everybody deserves to see what they’re worth, and I deserve it at this point.

“I think I worked my tail off for nine years, I gave the city every ounce of effort that I could give and, shoot, it’s time to see what everybody else thinks about me.”

The good news is that Harris is open to returning to Denver, stating that “if they want me back, then I’ll be back.” Your move, John Elway.
