Chopra spoke to The Athletic about his experience working with Bryant on the film. “I say this with great affection: It was agonizing. It was intense,” he said, chuckling. “There was no version of Kobe that didn’t have a strong point of view. It was hard. I never have worked with anyone as engaged. He wasn’t going to compromise or back down. He listened and collaborated, but he was just like he was on the basketball court. He was relentless. Confrontational and combative. That’s what drove him. He really pushed us as a team, and me as a filmmaker. It wasn’t easy at the time, but I look back I am grateful for that experience.”
