Choice for Notre Dame’s Athletic Moment of the Decade an Obvious One

McGraw’s Irish had an all-time decade where deep NCAA Tournament runs were simply protocol.

Muffet McGraw has turned Notre Dame into a legit powerhouse and blue blood in basketball ranks nationwide.  When you make your Mount Rushmore of Women’s College Basketball coaches she’s more than made her case for being on the mountain alongside Pat Summit and Geno Auriema and a fourth that would be up for great debate.

Don’t agree?

McGraw’s Irish had an all-time decade where deep NCAA Tournament runs were simply protocol.

Even with the rough start to this season (5-8), Notre Dame finishes the decade with an overall record of 344-45.

Those 344 wins combined to see a trip to the NCAA Tournament each season, never not reaching the Sweet 16.

Seven of those runs wound up in the Final Four, six times going to the final and it all culminating in Arike Ogunbowale stunning the world as time expired in the 2018 season.

A walk-off winner to win the second title in school history.

What made it even sweeter was the fact she did the same thing two days earlier to knock out Connecticut and end Auriema’s perfect season.

The 2019-20 campaign may have gotten off to a rocky start as a ton of veterans needed replaced but don’t confuse yourself for a second, this was a decade of pure dominance for McGraw’s Fighting Irish.
