Chiefs-Chargers could go either direction on Thursday night and the public is split

To cover, or not to cover. That is the question.

Did that weird ending to the Seattle-Denver Monday Night Football game leave you finding drooling from the mouth, salivating for more NFL action?

Lucky for you, football is back and ready to take over your streaming devices this Thursday when the Kansas City Chiefs host the Los Angeles Chargers.

Two of the AFC’s top title contenders will take the field on Thursday, fresh off of season-opening wins. The Chiefs had the more dominant win of the two, and head into Thursday with the backing of both the books and the public.

Seventy-eight percent of the tickets at Tipico Sportsbook are moneyline bets on the Chiefs to win the game outright. Their job will be slightly easier with the Chargers being down its top wide receiver Keenan Allen. Still, 45 percent of Tipico bettors are taking the Chargers to cover the spread (+4.5).

All bets should be considered strong ones. The division foes split the regular-season series a year ago and are tied 2-2 since 2020 when Justin Herbert became the QB1 in Los Angeles. Although, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs have cemented themselves into an upper tier along the way that the Chargers are still aiming for.

Can head coach Brandon Staley bring his team a step closer to that upper tier with a win on Thursday night?
