Kansas City Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill exposed himself this weekend for having a bad initial take on Patrick Mahomes when he entered the league.
After Hill went off for 269 yards and three scores against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 12, he joined the hosts of “Inside the NFL” to talk some football. They talked about a number of topics, but none were more entertaining than when Phil Simms asked Hill about his initial impression of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. He wanted to know what Hill thought of Mahomes before the MVPs and the Super Bowl win, back when he was just a rookie in the Chiefs’ 2017 Training Camp.
Let’s just say if his first impression was written on the internet back in 2017, it’d be constantly ridiculed to this day.

“I thought he was trash, I ain’t gonna cap. I ain’t even going to cap. I was like, ‘This is who y’all drafted? This is who you all drafted right here?’ Hey, but look, he proved me into a whole, complete, I don’t know. It’s just that second year like his quarterback mechanics were different. It was like he was spending more time with his quarterback coach, spending more time with Coach Reid, like learning the offense. It was just like, dude was like different.”
Hill wasn’t the only one who thought that Mahomes was “trash.” Thankfully, Mahomes was able to prove everyone, including his teammate wrong after that first season. It also seemed that Hill was lost for words, trying to say that Mahomes helped to take his game to the next level too.
Mahomes and Hill had a funny exchange on Twitter after the interview aired too.

Hopefully, Mahomes’ feelings aren’t too hurt and he continues to look Hill’s way on Sunday. Otherwise, it might be a while before we see another 200-plus-yard performance from Hill.
