Chiefs WR Demarcus Robinson to sign with Raiders

After a successful free agent visit, former #Chiefs WR Demarcus Robinson is signing a one-year deal with the #Raiders per report.

The Kansas City Chiefs have lost a free agent to their most bitter AFC West rival.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, after a successful visit with the Las Vegas Raiders, Demarcus Robinson is set to sign a one-year deal. A former fourth-round draft pick out of the University of Florida in 2016, Robinson has been a key contributor on offense in Kansas City since 2018.

Robinson appeared in 97 regular-season games with 42 career starts in Kansas City. He caught 145 passes on 227 targets for 1,679 yards and 14 touchdowns during his Chiefs career. He was also a key special teams player for Kansas City with 571 snaps over six seasons. He was most known for having good chemistry with Patrick Mahomes because the two players worked together on the scout team in 2017.

The likelihood that Robinson would return to Kansas City after JuJu Smith-Schuster signed with the team was slim. Robinson has been playing on one-year deals with the Chiefs in back-to-back seasons. Now, he’ll get another one-year deal to play against his former team twice a year.

We’ll be keeping an eye out for Robinson’s contract information to see if he qualifies toward the compensatory pick formula. If his past two contracts are any indication, it’s likely that he won’t qualify.
