The Kansas City Chiefs have partnered with The University of Kansas Health System to bring free COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters to fans prior to “Monday Night Football.”
The team and health system will host an event outside of GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium before the Chiefs’ matchup against the New York Giants on November 1.
“We have been working with our partners to identify ways to raise awareness for vaccinations while also exploring events that work within the scope of our operations,” said Chiefs President Mark Donovan in a press release from the team. “We appreciate the support from The University of Kansas Health System in making this vaccination opportunity available to fans on Monday, and we hope to host similar opportunities as the season progresses.”
The event will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. CT at The University of Kansas Health System tent, located near the Founder’s Club entrance on Founder’s Plaza on the north side of the stadium.
“The University of Kansas Health System strongly encourages Chiefs fans and everyone in our community to receive the COVID-19 vaccine because it provides the best protection against severe infection, hospitalization and death,” said Bob Page, president and chief executive officer of The University of Kansas Health System.
Vaccines offered will include the Pfizer vaccine for individuals aged 12 and up, as well as the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines for ages 18 and up.
Per the Chiefs’ release, booster shots will be available for individuals who have received a Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine at least six months prior to their second shot, and fall under one of these groups:
- 65 years and older
- Age 18+ who live in long-term care settings
- Age 18+ who have underlying medical conditions
- Age 18+ who work or live in high-risk settings
- For those who received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, booster shots are recommended for those 18 and older and vaccinated two or more months ago
Those wishing to receive a vaccine or booster shot must have a vaccine card or documentation of previous doses. Learn more about this event at the Chiefs’ website. Visit The University of Kansas Health System’s website for more information on COVID-19 vaccines and boosters.
