Chiefs TE Travis Kelce passes Shannon Sharpe on receiving yards leaderboard

#Chiefs TE Travis Kelce is now fourth all-time in career receiving yards at the tight end position.

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce continues to make his mark in the NFL history books.

A week after becoming the fifth tight end in NFL history to reach 10,000 career receiving yards, and doing it faster than any other tight end, Kelce has hit another career milestone. With two receptions for 16 yards, Kelce now has 10,061 receiving yards over the course of his NFL career. That’s good enough to push him up to No. 4 all-time in NFL history over former Denver Broncos TE Shannon Sharpe.

Sharpe took to Twitter to congratulate Kelce and encourage him to keep going.

Only three players at the tight end position —  Antonio Gates (11,841), Jason Witten (13,046) and Tony Gonzalez (15,127) — have more career receiving yards than Kelce. If the 33-year-old keeps playing for another couple of seasons, he’ll have a chance to pass both Gates and Witten, but it’ll likely be tough for him to catch Gonzalez.

Either way, Kelce continues to redefine the position with his on-field production and play.
